PATH & NEXT

Australia’s premier football code. A legacy stretching back 150 years. A sport woven into the fabric of Australian culture and identity. The AFL recognizes how the sport ignites the nation—and how nurturing its leaders can amplify impact.

Since 2018, Nosworthy Group and the league have co-crafted tailored programs preparing over a thousand next-generation leaders from AFL House and Clubs nationwide—to create change in their lives and careers, lead with purpose and clear intent, and guide the game into the future.

What we delivered

PATH Career Mastery Program
  • A single-day session, offered biannually
  • A focus on personal responsibility and self-direction
  • ~100 participants per intake
NEXT Emerging Leaders Program
  • 3 full-day, in-person learning experiences
  • Industry guest and executive contribution
  • Complemented by self-paced online learning
  • A peer nominated cohort of ~50 participants per year

Our approach

Personal leadership

We often say, “we will never go professionally where we are afraid to go personally.”

So participants start in PATH by building effective personal leadership skills with simple yet powerful self-reflection protocols; they often describe this practice as “transformative”.

Ideation and communication

In NEXT, participants are then equipped with the skills needed to spark innovative ideas and convey them persuasively.

Personal positioning

Finally, participants gain insights into elevating their influence—so they can navigate the complexities of modern leadership, with values of inclusion and resilience.

“Honestly changed my world. Such a privilege to experience this Program and learn from Phill and other industry experts. And the opportunity to connect with such a powerful and diverse group was both grounding and inspiring!” - a NEXT19 participant
